Sister Mary Michelle,
S.S.J.
Sister Mary Michelle Sokol, a Sister of St. Joseph
of The Third Order of St. Francis, is the Director of Religious
Education at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Quaker Hill. Sister
came to Our Lady's Parish in January of 1980 and became Religious
Education Director in August of 1991.
Sister Mary Michelle entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in Garfield
Heights, Ohio and professed her religious vows in 1961. She received
her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Madonna College at Livonia,
Michigan and her Master's Degree from the University of Detroit.
Prior to Catechetical Teaching, Sister taught elementary education
in Michigan before returning to Connecticut, her home state, in
January of 1980. Sister is a native of Meriden, Connecticut and
the daughter of the late Walter and Helen Sokol of Meriden.
Besides being the Director of Religious Education, Sister still
enjoys teaching the children, especially preparing them for the
Sacraments of Confirmation, Penance and the Holy Eucharist. She
feels that by instilling the children with the love of God and Christian
principles, they will be better prepared to face their future with
confidence and love.
In 1999 Sister was appointed as a Trustee of Our Lady of Perpetual
Help Church.
