A MESSAGE FROM BISHOP HART
Thank you very much for all the prayers and Masses you have offered for me.
I’m grateful for this spiritual assistance.
Please continue to pray for me.
I pray that I will be faithful to God’s will.
Stewardship Month!
November is Stewardship Month in OLPH. Each November, every parishioner is asked to review his/her weekly contribution made to God in OLPH Parish. Our goal this year is to increase our offertory by 10%. Please read Father Lipton’s letter, which was sent to each parish family AND the special flyer insert in this week’s bulletin.
Pastoral Sharing
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings of Peace.
In today’s Gospel lesson, Jesus is questioned by a group of Sadducees who denied the reality of resurrection. They did not acknowledge any spiritual reality that was not mentioned on the pages of the first five books of the Old Testament. Truthfully, the aim of their question was to ridicule Jesus and his message of the resurrection of the body after death.
This is the month of All Souls. Jesus promises life after death and resurrection. Our beloved ones who departed before us need our prayers. They need us to offer the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross for them—to have Masses said for them. They need us to pray the rosary asking Mary to speak to her son for our loved ones. They need us to keep the memory of their goodness alive and before the Lord.
The Books of Maccabees tell us that it is a good thing to pray for the dead. During the Month of November, we pray for our loved ones that they might be healed of the effects of sin in their lives and be admitted into the eternal love of the Lord.
God Bless you.
Fr. Mariadas J. Lipton
