Pastoral Sharing
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings of Peace.

This Sunday’s Gospel presents us the tax collector, a short man named Zacchaeus.  He was so short that he had to climb a tree to see this Messiah everyone was talking about.  Jesus called him down from the tree and told him that he would stay in Zacchaeus’ house.
Zacchaeus was a sinner.  But he also knew that Zacchaeus could change his ways.  And Zacchaeus had an experience of the Lord’s presence in his own house.  For Zacchaeus everything had to change now.  God had come under his roof.  “Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I shall repay it four times over.”  It was not enough for Zacchaeus that God had come into his life.  Now he would change his live to nurture the presence of God.
The Lord called Zacchaeus out of the tree and things changed.  The Lord calls us to prepare a place for him to stay in our lives.  Things must change.  Jesus is present in each of our homes and our lives in the most intimate way.  Today we pray for the courage to live our lives as a celebration of the gift of Divine Presence we have received.

God Bless you.
Fr. Mariadas J. Lipton
