From the desk of Monsignor Bride
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. Today we reaffirm the belief in the gift, the most precious gift; the Lord has given to the Church, his Body and Blood. This is the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
This gift was given to the Apostles on the first Holy Thursday when the Lord Jesus gathered together with them to celebrate the Passover Feast. When he gave them His Body and His Blood, he accompanied that action with the words, “Do this in Memory of me.” In fidelity to that command we gather this weekend, as we gather on every weekend, to be nourished by the Word of the Lord, and by the Food of the Lord, which is Holy Communion. The Church sets aside this Sunday every year, two weeks after Pentecost to help all of us re-appreciate this special gift of the Lord. Let us thank God for this gift, let us receive it worthily, let us rejoice in his presence in us.

On Friday of this week, June 15, 2007, we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This feast is intimately connected with the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. Christ loves us and his Sacred Heart is a sign of the full measure of his love for us.
Each of us is fully aware of what the symbol of the heart is. We designate it by popular acclamation. The heart is a reminder of love. The commercial world sees cards with hearts on them because they are clear evidence that love is from the heart.
The Sacred Heart is a sign to us that Jesus Christ loves us. It shows the extent of that love by displaying the heart of Christ in his body. Our statue of the Sacred Heart is a reminder of the love of Jesus Christ for us, of the complete love for us by him when he died for us. Let us accept that love on this special Friday. Monsignor Bride
Monsignor Bride will return to the Rectory on Sunday night, June 10th, from his Annual Retreat.
On Friday of this week, the Solemnity of the sacred Heart of Jesus, we have the last Crusade of Prayer for Vocations for this season. It is simply too difficult to get people to come to Church during vacation time. We shall resume the Crusade on Friday, September 14th. We hope many more will come to insure that every half hour is filled from 8:00 A.m. until 4:30 P.M.
This is the last week of Monsignor’s Column until Sunday, September 9th.
2007 Annual Bishop’s Appeal
“The gift you have been given, give as a gift”
If you have not made a gift or a pledge to the 2007 Annual Bishop’s Appeal, please make one today. Please assist the works of Vocations, Catholic Charities, Pastoral Care, Family Life and all the other services implemented by our Diocese. Each gift is important to the mission of our Diocese; it takes many people to form the Body of Christ. Every gift is important to the success of this Appeal.
We need your help to make our parish goal which is, as of yet, far removed. Thank you.
