Monsignor Bride Transferred
Last weekend, Monsignor Bride announced to the congregation of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, that he had been transferred. At that time, he stated he could not reveal where he was being sent because that pastor had not had the opportunity to tell his people. That is being done this weekend.
Monsignor will leave Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Wednesday, September 12th, and begin his pastorate in Christ the King Church in Old Lyme.
A Cruise
Monsignor Bride left on Saturday (8/18) for a Cruise to Bermuda. He is traveling with Father Gregory Galvin, who preached at Monsignor’s 40th Anniversary Mass. He will return to the Rectory on Saturday, August 25th, and celebrate the 5:00 P.M. Mass here.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS!!!!
There are always questions about the Sacrament of Penance. Can you explain this a bit more?
Jesus entrusted to His Apostles the Ministry of Reconciliation., in fact, the Sacrament of Penance. Remember, one day he gave the command to the Apostles, “Whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven. Whose sins you retain, they are retained.” Thus, in the time between the Resurrection of the Lord and his return at the end of time, the Church continues this ministry through the Bishops and the priests, who are the collaborators with the Bishops.
Forgiveness brings reconciliation with God and with the Church. To confess our sins means that we appear before the Bishop or Priest. This is an essential part of the Sacrament of Penance. All serious sins must be recounted, stated, mentioned in the context of the Sacrament of Penance, where the priest is representing the Lord. This means that the faithful are placing their most serious wrongdoing before the Lord Himself, through the priest. They seek pardon for these sins and receive it, unless they keep back, knowingly, any of their serious sins. A very good metaphor for this is, what kind of healing do I receive if I fail to go to a Doctor? How can the Doctor heal my wounds, if I fail to show him my wound or sore. Thus, the same is true in Confession. If I do not show the Lord my sin, how can I expect to receive from him, forgiveness.
